Boeing ToolBox Mobile Prototype App for iPadOS
INTRODUCTIONIn 2019, I designed and tested a ground up iPadOS product for Boeing. This product was intended to deliver aircraft maintenance records to flight line mechanics. This involved a revamp of the inbox, calendar, people, records and search experiences.
GOALThe goal of this project was to design a iPadOS mobile prototype to prove out the ability for line mechanics to utilize aircraft maintenance documentation from the iPad. Then extend this work to a functional product.
PROCESSDesigned new user experience using native iPadOS components. And use the prototype to conduct high level testing a number of solutions with subject matter experts.
The Process
Stakeholder and SME interviews
The team conducted an stakeholder interview line mechanics with the Boeing Company and techs from KLM airlines.
Personas
Based on the data collected from our initial user research, two personas were created: the "Creative Brand Designer" and the "Editorial News Desk".
Sketching
After developing our personas, the team sketched out ideas and created a group vision for our mobile iPad design.
Wireframing
With the sketches finalized, we designed a low-fidelity paper prototype in keynote. This process was iterative, as simplifying our design was essential to our target users.
Final Prototype Design
Based on feedback of our wireframes, we designed a high-fidelity tappable prototype in Sketch for viability testing
My Role
My role during this project was as a Lead product Designer on UX design team of three working with teams overseas.
I was involved with each stage of the process, which included:

The Design
The design shows examples of mobile iPAD screens, from sketching in Keynote as test candidates to prototyping Sketch with SMSs, to the final prototype in Sketch.
Some primary areas of focus:
Status and accuracy of aircraft maintenance documentation.
Ability to message mechanics an update is required though SMS or dashboards.
Search functionality.
iPad OS design components (A requirement).
